HRH

Introducing HRH, Queen Elizabeth II. She saved this smile for a young girl of about 5 and her daddy.

This is the beauty of digital; if the Queen pops through town you can have her online within the hour. She was in Cambridge to open up a new mathematics building in the University.

Lots of people turned out on a hot summer's day to see her - unfortunately we were staring right into the sun. I grabbed myself a position where I could shoot from - standing on a wall - but she's surpsrisingly short so even from a relatively high vantage it was difficult to shoot her through the crowds. I'll post a few more shots from her visit once I've had a chance to sort the wheat from the chaff. (With apologies to those of you who aren't fans of blown highlights ;-) )

And this digital camera thing's starting to pay dividends. While I was waiting for Lizzy to appear, I got chatting to a young Australian girl who was just in town for the day. As luck would have it, the batteries to her camera died just when HRH appeared. So trying to be the gent I would clearly like to be, I offered to send her any decent pictures that I got. All in all, it's been a fairly productive day...
